If you’ve been reading Don’t Ever Look Back over the past few months, you’ll know that we’re into the touristy attractions more than anyone.
We’ve written about the time we stalked the Hollywood sign and the time we took on traditional Chicago-style food. And what about that one time… well, you get the point.
Anyway, when in Paris the two of us had to check out the Eiffel Tower. Obviously.
But we weren’t content with just seeing the Eiffel Tower and taking a couple of pictures. Hell no! We took over 100 photos in less than 45 minutes in a variety of poses.
We posed in front of it.
We posed underneath it.
And we posed on the other side of the tower.
Most people would have left happy, but we’re not most people. We watched other tourists pull ridiculous poses in front of the Eiffel Tower and we thought we would try to recreate some them and even come up with one or two of our own!
We did a jumping photo.
We pinched the top of the Eiffel Tower.
All of this photography was starting to get tiring, so we needed something to lean on…
The Eiffel Tower is a great place to relax!
It’s also one of the most romantic places in the world!
You can even swallow the Eiffel Tower!
It’s probably fortunate that the grass areas were closed off during our visit otherwise we would have been there all day!
What’s the cheesiest tourist photo you’ve ever taken? Bonus points if you link us to an image!

Cheesy shots
Toursit poses are kind of hard to think up when you are on the spot like that. I can never get my pose just right!

It was kind of a spur of the moment thing! If you’re not sure, just look around and see what everyone else is doing… that should give you plenty of ideas to get started!
Love these pics. Can’t beat a cheesy pic with the Eiffel Tower. Love the one of Amy giving it a smooch!
Thanks Monica, we just couldn’t help ourselves! Perhaps we’ll continue this series around the world!
Haha,I visited the Eiffel Tower when I was 16 but back then (God I sound really old….!) I wasn’t really into taking pictures. I definitely try some of these poses if I went back though, looks llike you guys had fun

Haha know the feeling… there’s always those missed photos that you regret later down the path, especially now that you’re blogging and could tell some great stories with them! We had an absolute blast doing this!
I wish I had thought of taking cheesy pics with the Eiffel Tower, but didn’t. I love these photos!!!
Jaime recently posted..What I’ve been up to in Athens!
Thanks Jaime! You did get some pretty awesome ones at the Leaning Tower though!
Awesome photos!
I definitely did the ‘Pinching the Top of the Eiffel Tower’ shot when I was there…as you say, wish I’d done a few of the others now – hindsight’s a great thing!
Have to admit that my favourite is the ‘Casually Leaning Against the Tower’ pose…never come across that one before.
We definitely did get a little creative that day… as we wrote in the post, if the grass areas were open we could’ve gotten a lot more!
Love it! Now I know that I’m not the only one! Though, surely there should have been one of you guys kissing in front of it!?

That’s the ONE photo we’re disappointed we didn’t take! Perhaps we need to take our own personal photographer next time…
Love the leaning shot. Bet it was really comfortable with all that steel under your back! and the couple shot is super cute (cue ‘awwwwww’)
I’ll have to put it up on flickr but I did the “squish one of the Twelve Apostles between my fingers” shot haha!
Nicole recently posted..Travel Bug Tuesday – Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Haha, yeah it was pretty comfy after taking so many photos! Please do upload it to Flickr – we’re probably headed out that way in the next couple of months and will try to recreate it.
Fab pictures, guys! The Eiffel Tower is surprising photogenic isn’t it? My cheesiest photo is this one from the Taj Mahal http://on.fb.me/tUbTkS

And here are most people thinking it’s just a famous monument! Haha nice one – we’ve shared it on our Facebook wall!
I love cheesy pictures in front of famous landmarks! The only one I have is me “holding up” the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which was taken in 1999 with a regular point and shoot camera with film, so I didn’t know if it had come out until I got the picture developed when I got home. I wanted it so right, I was getting so mad at my sister when she was taking it!
Thankfully it came out beautiful! Now, if I could just find it…
Rebecca recently posted..Personal Update
Half the battle is definitely getting the photographer to take it right! That’s why we ended up with 100+ photos. Could only imagine how much pressure your sister must have been feeling haha – at least she got a good one!
Heck ya! We’re all about the cheesy tourist photos…
How about tis one… jumping over the pyramids:

Yup, THAT just happened!

Did you say “cheekiest” or “cheesiest” photo???
Because I have plenty of cheeky ones… I’ll save these to you guys, they look great! Actually made me laugh out loud (no lol) in the middle of this hostel!

Hahaha I hope there were people around thinking “who’s this crazy lady?!”… we’re not sure what a cheeky travel photo is – please enlighten us (and the rest of our readers) and give us an example!
These photos are great! I hope you’ll be posting a lot more as you move around the world. (Very) unfortunately, I don’t have anything as cheesy as these.
We’ll definitely be trying to take more at some point! That’s too bad you don’t have anything cheesy but there’s always the next trip to make up for it!
Haha, love this!! Cheesy photos are definitely the way to go at sites like this. I especially like the one of you leaning against it, Kieron!
My cheesiest photo is probably this one: me holding up the Gateway Arch in St. Louis!

That’s a really cool photo Amanda! It’s funny how seeing that makes us think “why the hell didn’t we take that picture!”… perhaps a website needs to be started to give travelers around the world cheesy photo inspiration?!
You want cheesy tourist? We have countless.. Especially at Pisa.
Check out Q carrying the tower on her back.

Exactly right – all a bit of fun and good to have a laugh at when you get home!
The cheese in me LOVES every one of those photos
I was uber-cheesy at The Leaning Tower of Pisa: http://mslistologist.com/2011/08/the-tower-of-pisa-it-leans-italy/
Haha they’re pretty cheesy, right? Ahh I don’t think it’s possible to visit the Leaning Tower without doing that pose!
Ahhh, I LOVE these. They are so cute! I think my cheesiest tourist photo is of me lying on a Mayan ruin pretending to be sacrificed. Haha. I’ll be sure to share with you guys if and when I post it!

For some reason I never get sick of cheesy photos
But I really love the photo of the two of you together. You make a cute couple and are very photogenic. But I think you knew that already!
Thanks very much Matthew – the one of the two of us turned out really well. Amy handpicked the photographer from a large group after seeing her take photos of another couple haha.
haha awh it’s cute!!! you gotta be a little cheesy with the Eiffell tower.

Cheesy tourist photos is our middle name! We did pretty much all the same ones as you guys at the Eiffel Tower. We were even in a contest called the Cheesy Photo Challenge – http://www.fourjandals.com/france/cheesy-photo-challenge/ and our post in Paris features a few too – http://www.fourjandals.com/france/a-long-weekend-in-paris-sorry-mum-no-proposal/

A cheesy photo challenge?! That’s fantastic! Love the photo of Adela doing a handstand and you fly kicking the tower – if only the grass areas weren’t closed off when we visited! Thanks for sharing!
You guys are hilarious! There is nothing like a good cheesy photo – or in this case a lot! I love the one of Amy kissing the tower.

LOL.. We’re so alike it’s scary. The pinch, lean, kiss and bite are the best. But I bet you can’t top Gerard’s never ending peace sign \\// \\// . Haha. *sigh* Cheesy touristy photos are awesome!

There’s always time for cheesy pics! Love that photo – it’s definitely a keeper! Thanks so much for sharing.
That sucks that the grass field was closed off. Why? When I visited Paris in 2009, seeing the Eiffel Tower was the highlight. I didn’t care how much of a tourist I looked like. I was posing and snapping self portraits every where I could.
I’m that cheesy tourist when I go to a place with popular tourist attractions. I don’t mind it either. People like seeing things they are familiar with and if that makes us tourists, oh well, at least we’re traveling right?
Fidel recently posted..San Miniato al Monte- A Lifetime Room With A View
We’ve got no idea why the grass was closed off but the fences looked like they were pretty permanent so perhaps it’s a late fall/winter thing?
Definitely nothing wrong whatsoever with being a tourist! These destinations and landmarks are popular for a reason and if you skip them then you’re crazy!
A ha ha ha! But you HAVE to do those! They are great! And are so awesome to look back on!

Awesome! Way better than the typical leaning on the Tower of Pisa thing. Since we’re traveling with a little statue of Rocky our trip has been a series of cheesy photos. Here are a few: http://www.changesinlongitude.com/rocky-statue-steps-trip-rtw-round-the-world-travel/
Keep the photos coming.
Cheers!
