Amy’s 25 Before 25 List: A Recap

Amy’s 25 Before 25 List: A Recap

Before leaving on our big trip last year I challenged myself to achieve 25 awesome things before my 25th birthday.

Earlier in March I celebrated my 25th birthday.

So after the celebrations I reviewed my 25 Before 25 list and discovered that I achieved 12 of them. Considering 2 of them were prevented by weather and 5 others didn’t happen due to changes in our plans (we didn’t make to Mexico, Italy or outside of Paris), I’m pretty happy with my efforts.

Here are the goals that I achieved in 2011-2012.

Visit Bondi Beach in SydneyAttend a traditional Hawaiian luau
Learn how to surf and/or go stand-up paddleboardingHand feed a giraffe
Party and get drunk in Las VegasSwim and interact with a beluga whale at Sea World
See a Broadway MusicalVisit the New York City Tiffany & Co Store
Follow my music hero Eminem and be in the front-row at one of his performancesExperience the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa in Iceland
Watch the Changing the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace Visit the Eiffel Tower

It truly was the best year of my life.

A list definitely helps you stay on track and get excited about the future and we’re already thinking about the next list we can put together to motivate us towards future travel.

Should we create a 30 before 30 list? Or perhaps just one massive bucket list? What do you want to see?

Those are some pretty cool achievements in such a short time.
I’d say go for a ’30 before 30′ as I find the typical bucket list a bit too open-ended, while setting a bit of deadline provides more focus.

Great point David – having a deadline definitely adds urgency which is why I think so many were achieved off this one.

Wow, you accomplished so many of your goals! I agree with David – most people have bucket lists without a deadline, which means they never get accomplished. if you’re going to have such a list, assigning a date like that is a great idea.

We suck at ticking off our bucket list. Maybe we should change ours to a 30 before 30 list as well! Race you to it :)

Looks like a great year! I’ve got a vague bucket list but think the ‘x before x’ idea is a great one to focus you on making sure you prioritise the things you want to achieve. Though mine’ll have to 35 before 35 – the older you get the more you have to cram in!

It was a great year! Yeah looking back it’s definitely easier to set shorter-term goals rather than an endless bucket list with no end date. Good luck with your list! :)

Pretty good for one year and there’s plenty of the other awesome things we did on our travels that aren’t included here!

Wow Amy you have certainly achieved a lot by 25. Great photos too :)

Heck yea! Vegas!! Lol.. Even though I made it to your “Things We Did Wrong List..”, I made it here too! Hahaha. Way to go Amy. What an amazing year. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for you on your 30 before 30. Congrats!

Haha DEFINITELY partied and got drunk in Las Vegas… probably could have put three ticks next to that one! I might be too ambitious for a 30 Before 30… might have to make it 300 Before 30. :D

I ended up creating a list of 30 ways to celebrate turning 30. It probably accomplishes the same thing.
