After signing up for the Travel Hacking Cartel and having a sudden interest in frequent flyer miles, I needed an easy way to manage my growing portfolio of reward programs. I started with an Excel Spreadsheet, then migrated across to Google Docs so that I could access this information from anywhere. While these were decent solutions, they definitely weren’t the easiest to keep up-to-date and I started to get quite frustrated at the whole process.
I read some positive things about AwardWallet from Suzy Guese which prompted me to sign up in early February. And let me tell you, I have been absolutely delighted with the product they provide!
What is AwardWallet?
AwardWallet is a free service that keeps track of your reward programs such as frequent flyer miles, hotel and credit card points. It supports a whopping 321 loyalty programs and is used by over 37,000 active members.
What’s so great about AwardWallet?
It’s free! A regular account (which is suitable for most users) is completely free! For such a fantastic product, you can’t go wrong with that. There is a paid version which displays additional properties, allows exporting of balances into Excel formats and gives you unlimited expiration notices.
It’s so easy to use! To add a new reward program, it’s just a matter of finding the reward program you want, typing in your login details for that program and clicking ‘Add’.
Everything is in one place. All your accounts, all your balances, all your expiration dates – all in one place! This makes management of your reward programs so much easier which solved the problem I discussed in the opening paragraph.
Automatic updates. Reward balances and expiration dates automatically update themselves, but if you can’t wait that long then just click ‘Update All’ and you’ll have up-to-date balances for every single one of your accounts within minutes.
You can create custom awards. If your rewards program isn’t one of the 321 covered, you can add a custom rewards program to AwardWallet. This was fantastic for us as I was able to add my HotelClub Member Dollars and their expiration date to remind me to use them before August this year!
These are my top five reasons but there are plenty of other great reasons to love AwardWallet including weekly email updates of your award activity, an iPhone application (pictured above), the ability to manage multiple users and secure storage of passwords.
Still not convinced?
If you’ve got any interest in frequent flyer miles or rewards programs, we urge you to give the product a try. Seriously, what have you got to lose?
