Four Traveling Couples To Follow In 2012

Four Traveling Couples To Follow In 2012

Recently there has been a huge increase in the popularity of travel blogs based around couples travel which has been fantastic to see. We love seeing other couples doing what we’re doing and sharing their passion for travel in the form of an online travel blog.

With 2011 drawing to a close, we thought we would compile a small list of travel blogs who we expect to achieve big things in 2012. We were very tempted to include some of the popular couples blogs we love such as The Planet D and yTravel Blog but this is about the up-and-comers who deserve some recognition too.

We limited this list to blogs who:

  • Started blogging seriously in 2011.
  • Were consistent with their writing in the second half of 2011.
  • Have the momentum to become major travel blogs in 2012.

So here’s our list – four traveling couples you need to be following in 2012!

GQ trippin

GQ trippin

There’s no traveling couple that reminds us more of ourselves than Gerard & Kieu of GQ trippin. G is obsessed with his gadgets and photography (just like Kieron!) while Q is into beauty, fashion and cosmetics (just like Amy!). If you like us, then we guarantee that you’ll like them.

Gerard and Kieu’s blog has surged in popularity over the past 6 months and with their round-the-world trip just days away from commencing, GQ trippin is destined for bigger and better things next year.

We partied with Kieu in Las Vegas over the Labor Day long weekend and are looking forward to catching up with these two when they arrive in Melbourne next month.

Hecktic Travels

Hecktic Travels

Mix an enthralling writer and a talented photographer and you get the super awesome Hecktic Travels. The lovely Dalene & Peter Heck have been traveling since 2009 and have no plans of stopping anytime soon as they housesit their way around the world.

These two have already built up an impressive following since relaunching their website in January 2011 and we predict that 2012 will be a big year for this Canadian couple.

We spent four nights with Dalene & Pete in London and their passion for life, travel and blogging certainly rubbed off on us. If you want to read some entertaining stories of travel in South America and Europe and see some fantastic HDR photos at the same time, you need to check out Hecktic Travels.

Captain and Clark

Captain and Clark

The story behind Captain and Clark’s upcoming round-the-world trip is sure to suck you in – it did for us! Their plans started with a small post barrel in the Galapagos where Tawny & Chris collected 22 letters which they intend to hand-deliver to destinations including Colombia, Spain, Morocco and India – read more about their plans in the #rtwsoon interview they did with us.

And with Iceland being this couple’s first destination on their trip, we’re really looking forward to seeing what they get up to there and over the next 12 months! Be sure to give them a follow – they’ll definitely keep you entertained.

Four Jandals

Four Jandals

New Zealand’s Adventure Couple, Four Jandals, is our dark horse for 2012 with a big chance of shooting to prominence. Cole and Adela started Four Jandals to share travel stories with their families (much like we did) but are slowly growing their fanbase and will be one to watch over the next 12 months.

The two of us met Cole at WTM in London and despite being such a newcomer to the blogging scene, we were seriously impressed by his professionalism and determination. With those attributes and a strong desire to make their blog a success, we have a feeling that good things for these two is just around the corner.
