Images of Iceland

The scenery in Iceland is absolutely spectacular. We took well over 1,000 photos during our nine day visit, many of which have been featured in our previous posts.

Here are some of our favorite images from Iceland that you may not have seen yet.

Hallgrímskirkja Church of Iceland

Streets of Reykjavik

Reykjavik Harbor

Roads near Eyjafjallajökull

Beautiful country, isn’t it? No wonder it won Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel Reader’s Choice Award for 2012!

It’s a stunning building and great that it’s the the highpoint of Reykjavik’s skyline!

You’ve got a nice cross-section of photos with a variety of architecture and landscapes. I particularly like the red post/mailbox, looking alone on the road and standing guard, waiting patiently to fulfill its function.

Thanks Henry – we’re really happy with all of our Iceland photos, can’t wait to get some printed out and hung up on the wall.

Thanks Jaime! We had a spare few minutes to play around and thought we would try something different – if only we weren’t both completely in black!

Awesome pix. Think we may have to schedule ourselves there somehow in 2012. haha.

If you can fit it into your schedule, you know that we definitely recommend it!

Haha no, this one was near some waterfalls which we stopped at during our Mountain Taxi tour. It was quite isolated but maybe it’s busier there in summer?

Thanks! We’ve never been called uber cute before so we’ll take that. ;)

The pictures of the church and the waterfall are stunning. And the picture of the two of you holding hands is very sweet too.

Thanks Matthew, they’ve all turned out fantastic and we’re really proud of some of them. :)

Thats funny but I never expected Iceland to be like that :) Its gorgeous! I love the photos…its so different to what I had imagined. I am not sure what I thought Iceland would be like…but I didnt expect to see the roads, and buildings like that. Amazing first photo – that building is stunning!

I really want to visit Iceland. I was wondering what time of year you visited? I read through most of your posts, but I must have missed that part. Were you able to see the Northern Lights?

    • Posted January 23, 2012 at 10:07 am | Permalink

Hey Lauren, we visited at the end of October so it was starting to get a little cold but we still had enough daylight to do everything we wanted. Unfortunately we missed the Northern Lights – our tour was cancelled due to bad weather and that same night they were spotted across the Midwest USA. Can you believe that?!

Nice pics. It’s an amazing country. We were out there in Reykjavik in April and are heading back to explore by bike in August. Where would you recommend to visit outside of the city? Any particular quirky, favourite or inspiring spots?

So jealous that you get to go back in August – we really hope to have the opportunity to return one day!

We were transported outside of the city on tours so didn’t really get to explore too much but can recommend Husavik for whale watching and have heard great things about Vik. If you have the time, the Westman Islands look like a really unique and fun place to visit.

Just booked myself 11 days in Iceland in September. So excited! I’ve been reading your reports for inspiration. I’ll definitely be visiting some of these places.
