Our 7 Travel Blog Links

You may have seen some posts titled “My 7 Links” being published on other travel blogs over the last few days. Tripbase have created this joint endeavor to unite bloggers and after being nominated by the awesome pair behind Our Tasty Travels, we thought it would be a great idea to participate.

So take a look at our seven links and read some of the best of Don’t Ever Look Back from the past 9 months.

1. Our Most Beautiful Post

A Filipino Wedding in Photos

This photo essay featured many beautiful photos from a day that meant so much to both of us. It’s not every day that you’re lucky enough to attend a traditional cultural wedding and these pictures really captured the experience brilliantly.

2. Our Most Popular Post

7 reasons why you should take that round-the-world trip and travel now!

This inspirational post has had twice as many page views that any other post we’ve published and received plenty of comments. If you’re on the fence about taking the plunge into long-term travel, this might just give you the push you need.

3. Our Most Controversial Post

Backpack vs. suitcase? Our decision.

Revealing our decision to take a suitcase on our round-the-world trip was met with a big response from the backpacking community of our readership. Fortunately our reasoning was enough to convince most of them that at the end of the day, a traveller should use whatever works for them.

4. Our Most Helpful Post

Frugal February

Now this might cause some controversy! Rather than select a single helpful post, for this answer we’re nominating the entire Frugal February project. With the help of some awesome guest writers, we identified plenty of ways to save extra money for travel and were delighted to know that many of our readers took on this advice and were one step closer to making their travel dreams happen sooner!

5. A post whose success surprised us

Why long term travel?

Our very first blog post from October 2010! We weren’t expecting too much when we started Don’t Ever Look Back so to receive 11 positive comments was amazing for us! The fact that some of these comments came from top bloggers that were an inspiration to us before we started this website made it even more special and gave us the motivation to be where we are today.

6. A post you feel didn’t get the attention it deserved

An interview with Amy & Kieron

From our first post to our most recent post – we interviewed ourselves (including answering questions from our Facebook fans) and were honestly expecting a lot more interest in it. Perhaps we’re just not that interesting, eh? Haha. If you haven’t read our interview yet, go check it out!

7. The post that we are most proud of

7 things to do in Bali, Indonesia

Now this was a tough one to answer! But this post would have to take the cake – we put a lot of effort into this post and took the experiences we had from our first international trip together. It’s become a huge success in Google and we think it will become our most popular post by the end of 2011.

Our Blogger Nominations

We have the opportunity to nominate 5 other bloggers to participate in this project. Here are our selections:

What do you think of our link selections? Any feedback is welcomed!

Great blogger selections and not just because I’m one of them! I love all of them. I like this project because I’m revisiting posts I had forgotten about.

I love this 7 posts idea! Thanks for nominating me. It’s gonna be tough to pick out my 7, I think!

No problem Amanda – you’ve got plenty of great posts, whichever ones you choose we’re sure they will be great. :)

    RE. #6.

You know, Amy & Kieron, I think it’s just me, but I tend to go straight to the interviews to find out from the outset something about the people and something about their motivation. :)

I agree with the commenters above – “the seven” is a great idea!

The countdown beckons! Best wishes to the start of your RTW!

You make a good point Henry – I’ve added the link to our interview on our About Us page just for that very reason.

Thanks for the well wishes… only 19 days to go! :)

Thanks so much for nominating us, you two! This is a fabulous idea and I’m glad we got the chance to participate. It was also neat getting the chance to read some of your posts that I hadn’t seen before. :)

We’ve been loving your posts lately, keep up the great work!
Looking forward to catching up on your 7 and reading some of your older posts. :)

Thanks for the nomination guys! Great selection of previous posts also.

A great roundup of all your best posts. I went and specifically checked out your reasons to travel the world. The point that really resonated well with me is about life being too short – it certainly is! I think that delaying gratification too long can erode a dream. I know many talk about traveling but fewer put these dreams into action which is a shame.

    • Posted July 7, 2011 at 9:12 pm | Permalink

Thanks Samuel – you’re definitely right about continually delaying gratification until it becomes too late to achieve your dreams.

We’re both about to finish working full-time and have realized how easy it is to get stuck in a routine and just watch life pass you by.

I share a lot of the views and reasons for travelling mentioned in the posts and comments above. Life is for living, and I am happy I am part of this great group of people who chose to travel rather than put it off. This is a great idea for a post by the way :)
