Our favorite #rtwsoon travel bloggers (part 1)

As we near the end of 2010, we are seeing more and more ‘top lists’ of blogs – from As We Travel’s 25 Most Inspiring Travel Bloggers in 2010 to The Best of 2010: 100 Inspiring Travel Blogs by Almost Fearless. However, what we quickly realized about these lists is that they typically feature well-established bloggers who are currently traveling or are back home after extended traveling adventures. This isn’t a complaint from us; each and every one of them have earned and strongly deserve their recognition.

But what about the #rtwsoon crew? Those of us who are generally new to the travel blogging community and write about things all travelers can relate to from packing lists to why they have chosen long-term travel. A recent post by Amanda at A Dangerous Business – “Is Anybody Out There? Hang in There, Travel Bloggers” – highlights the fact that a lot of travel bloggers are becoming frustrated at being passed over for blogging opportunities, being left off lists, etc.

So to give some recognition to those who are heading around the world sometime in the next 12 months, Don’t Ever Look Back will be featuring 10 of our favourite #rtwsoon travel bloggers. We will spread these out in multiple posts over the next week (otherwise this post will become a novel), starting with two whose departure date is less than 30 days away – lucky buggers!

Who are you?

John and Andrea of InspiringTravellers.com, a couple of nomads about to head off on another round the world adventure for at least a year. Our blog features not only our own experiences but also those of the interesting travellers we meet along the way.

Where are you going?

We start with just over two months in New Zealand and then head to South America where we will visit Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia and Peru. After that it’s on to Europe. We have about a month each in Ireland and Croatia as well as a number of cities in central Europe. We’ll top it all off with a month in Japan.

When are you leaving?

25 December

Why did you decide to go on this trip?

We’ve been living in Melbourne for a while but plan to seek out a long-term expat stint in the Middle East or Asia in 2012. We’re also in our thirties and keen to start a family soon – so it seemed natural to break it up with a trip in between. Many of the experiences we have planned such as trekking, adventure sports and staying out past 7pm won’t really be suitable for a young family. So it’s now or never for us for the next few years.

Who are you?

My name is Jenny and I’m a digital nomad! I’ve had my location independent business for 8-years and have taken several long-term trips. I’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and become a full-time traveler and maintain my business from the road.

Where are you going?

I’m going to start with a year-long road trip through the states to skateboard all the awesome parks it has to offer. From there I’m going to go to South East Asia, Europe to visit family, or maybe Central America. I’m leaving my options open because I want to practice the art of not planning. We’ll see where the wind takes me.

When are you leaving?

I’m leaving sometime in January. I don’t have a specific date because I have to transition my dogs to their new home and help my mom downsize her items. Since I’m unsure how long that will take, I’m staying flexible.

Why did you decide to go on this trip?

I decided to go on this trip because I was tired of waiting for my life to be the way I wanted it to be.  I got tired of being uber jealous of everyone else that was living a life I wanted to live. One day I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to dump my boyfriend, sell all my crap, and travel. To live the life I had always dreamed of.
