Our Sydney Wishlist

Our Sydney Wishlist

Settling back into normal day-to-day life comes with the constant urge to ditch the job and apartment all over again to travel the world for a second time. Unfortunately circumstances and financial resources aren’t in our favor so we need to scale back those plans and look closer at amazing opportunities in our own backyard.

There are many Australian destinations that we would love to explore more of but none more so than Sydney. It’s where we started our round-the-world trip and it’s where we celebrated Amy’s 25th birthday last year so it definitely owns a piece of our heart.

Here are some of the activities in Sydney that we’d love to do the next time we visit.

#1 – Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Bridgeclimb Sydney (James Horan; Destination NSW)

We’ve taken many photos of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and even put together this stunning timelapse video but one thing that is high on the bucket list is to get up onto the steel structure and make our way to the summit.

We were supposed to do it last year but feared that weather would get in our way. Our resistance to commit to the date meant that we missed out – hopefully we can tick it off sooner rather than later!

#2 – Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo (Sally Mayman; Destination NSW)

If you’ve been following the blog for any period of time, you’ll know that we have an obsession for animal encounters. Need a refresher? Our recent post about our Lion Encounter will show you the type of experience that we enjoy.

Taronga Zoo is one of Australia’s most famous zoos, home to thousands of species of animals. Anyone up for a koala encounter or an owl encounter? We definitely are!

#3 – The Bondi To Coogee Walk

Bondi Coastal Walk (James Horan; Destination NSW)

Every Sydney person we know raves about the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk trail and it’s something that we haven’t had time to do on our previous two visits.

Nothing beats beautiful coastal scenery so it’s an absolute must the next time we head up to Sydney.

#4 – Visit Manly

Manly Beach (Hamilton Lund; Destination NSW)

We spent last year in lovely Balmain but the other Sydney suburb that we’re desperate to visit is Manly.

Whether it’s eating at one of the fantastic restaurants there or simply lazing on one of the many world-class beaches, a full day in Manly is high on our Sydney wishlist.

#5 – Luna Park

Luna Park, Milson's Point (Andrew Gregory; Destination NSW)

The two of us are big kids at heart so spending some time at Luna Park would make us happy.

The slogan for the Park is “Just For Fun!” and a couple of hours on the rides at this amusement park would be super.

Experience Sydney in 360˚

Sydney 360

A brand new innovation from Destination NSW allows us to participate in some of these iconic Sydney experiences before we even book a flight there.

We can now surf on Bondi Beach and kayak on Sydney Harbour without getting wet! We can also fly a helicopter over the Harbour without leaving the ground thanks to the new 360˚ video developed and launched today by Destination NSW.

Kieron Bridge Climb

You can actually put your own face in the picture too, which is the coolest thing about the whole thing. Look at Kieron climbing across the Bridge above!
