The culmination of our epic California Road Trip was near – all that was left to do was drive from Anaheim, California along the I-15 to Las Vegas for the 2011 Labor Day Weekend.
The closer we got to the desert, the hotter it got outside our Chevy Cruze and the temperature indicator peaked at a massive 114 degrees. Thankfully the air-conditioner in our car worked to perfection and we barely noticed!
After 4 hours on the road, we eventually arrived at the Fox Rent A Car location in sweltering Las Vegas and said farewell to our vehicle. The two of us then caught a cab to the strip and checked into our hotel at the MGM Grand – although 30 minutes in the scorching heat of Las Vegas had drained most of our energy!
We snuck in a short rest and some water before heading out onto the famous strip after dark. The two of us ventured north to the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood to grab some dinner and check out this decked-out mall.
As we ate our Panda Express meals, we were treated to an indoor thunderstorm that happens every hour on the hour. There are also many other things to see within Miracle Mile with 140 stores, 15 restaurants and even a giant 50-foot stripper!
With our exploration of the Miracle Mile Shops done for now, we headed back out onto Las Vegas Boulevard and crossed the road to the spectacular Bellagio Fountains. The fountain show at the Bellagio Hotel is something we could just watch over and over again!
We had a few nights of partying to look forward to in the Sin City so chose to head back to our hotel for some rest and relaxation. Bring on the long weekend!
We’re currently road tripping through California thanks to the generous help of Fox Rent A Car.
