Sunday Spotlight: The French River Area of Toronto

Sunday Spotlight: The French River Area of Toronto

Welcome to our new Sunday Spotlight feature in which one of our favorite travel bloggers shares five photos from one of their favorite travel destination. If you want to participate in a future Sunday Spotlight, please contact us.

Kieran and KarinAuthor Bio: We (Karin and Kieran) moved to Canada a year ago from the UK to find a better lifestyle in a new country, where we imagined better opportunities and experiences. We were right too! Now that we have jobs in Toronto and are settled downtown we still try to get up to the French River every so often to get back to nature and the first place we loved in Canada. We began our travel site K and K Adventures in February and our aim is to highlight areas like the French River which are special to Canadians, tourists and expats alike.

All of these were taken just outside of Toronto, in the French River area at Sand Beach Lodge, where we spent 5 months when we first moved here, before moving to the city. It’s a special place for us because it was our first real experience of the Canadian wilderness and is what we picture when they think of the true Canada.

Celebrating family and one of Canada’s favorite hobbies – fishing! We selected this picture because we think it sums up the excitement and the game of ‘catching, not fishing!’

Our favorite Canadian animal, the adorable chipmunk!

Our favorite Canadian animal, the adorable chipmunk! We spent a summer training this guy by feeding him copious amounts of nuts until he would sit in pockets and take food from our hands.

Canadian Sunrise

Canadian sunrises can rival any other and we love getting up early to see them!

Kieran kayaking on one of our epic trips up river in the Canadian wilderness. We both only recently discovered we loved Kayaking and what better way to explore Ontario’s 250,000 lakes?

Looks wonderful. Canada is so beautiful. The photos are really good, I especially like the black and white and the reflections but they are all top class.

I want to take that chipmunk home with me and cuddle it until it can be cuddled no more. Love the one of Grundy National Park, too. The colours and the reflection on the water are incredible. This looks like a gorgeous area of Toronto, and not one I’ve read about before either. Thanks for sharing :)

Wow, it looks gorgeous! I wish we would’ve had more time to explore the area beyond Toronto when we were in Canada last year.

I haven’t seen much of Canada, but from your pictures it looks gorgeous! And that chipmunk is absolutely adorable!
