The Next Step: Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Langkawi

The Next Step: Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Langkawi

A month ago we made the decision to stay put in Melbourne and sacrifice a European trip for career advancement and extra savings.

However before we made that decision, we already had a non-refundable flight booked to Kuala Lumpur which was to be our first stop on the way to Europe. So when negotiating his job, Kieron made sure that he was able to take a couple of weeks off so that we could at least get some international travel under our belts in 2012.

And here’s the official announcement…

We’re spending just under two weeks in South East Asia and are leaving next Thursday!

We love South East Asia - Bohol Beach Club

Due to its close proximity to Australia, Asia is where the two of us started traveling and it’s where we fell in love with the traveling lifestyle. We’ve visited six South East Asian countries so far; several more than once and now have the golden opportunity to return once again.

Here’s the itinerary for our upcoming adventure…

Destination 1: Kuala Lumpur

As Air Asia’s hub, we’ve stayed in Kuala Lumpur on 5 different occasions and this marks number six. It’ll only be a short stay but we’ve got two very clear objectives – live it up at the Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur and find the best Roti Canai that the city has to offer!

Anybody know where we can find it?!

Petronas Towers Kuala Lumpur

Destination 2: Singapore

This will be our fourth visit to Singapore and if you’ve followed a blog for a while, you know how much we love Singapore. Although we’ve spent plenty of time here, there are many items left on our list of things to do and surely still will be even after we’ve departed.

A few of the things we’ll get up to include taking a ride on the Singapore Flyer and experiencing the Night Safari. That’s just the beginning though – we’ll be eating PLENTY of awesome street food and just wait until we show you where we’re staying!

Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Destination 3: Langkawi

After KL and Singapore, we’ll finally get to visit somewhere new and that will be the beautiful island that is Langkawi in Northwestern Malaysia. We’ll mostly be relaxing in Langkawi (we need to recharge those batteries!) but will try to squeeze in a few activities. If you’ve been to Langkawi before, suggestions are more than welcome!

We were hoping to do the short boat trip to Ko Lipe but unfortunately it’s in low season at the moment so the ferries aren’t running.

Langkawi

So that’s the plans for our upcoming trip to South East Asia – we think it’s a nice mixture of cities and beaches and are starting to get excited for our visit. The two of us can’t wait to share the fun with you over the next few weeks so keep on reading!

What do you want to see us do in KL, Singapore and Langkawi?
Any tips/suggestions would be awesome – leave them in the comments below!
