The Pristine White Sands Of Whitehaven Beach

The Pristine White Sands Of Whitehaven Beach

Whitehaven Beach. It’s one of the top ten beaches in the world and we’ve never seen a place like it. It truly is just as stunning in real life as it is in the photographs you see.

7 kilometers of pristine white sand beside a sea of turquoise water, this little piece of paradise is accessible only via boat from Australia’s mainland as well as Hamilton Island.

Whitehaven Beach from the Boat

We began our Whitehaven Beach day trip by taking a leisurely 40 minute cruise with Fantasea Adventure Cruising who provided a gourmet barbecue lunch on board their catamaran. Soon after lunch we boarded a smaller boat and our feet were on the pure silica sands of Whitehaven Beach.

Fantasea gave us a sun shelter and our choice of beach balls (footballs, cricket sets, etc) and off we went to find our own spot on the sand – not hard considering how isolated Whitehaven Beach is.

The cloud cover on the day means our photos don’t do it justice but Whitehaven Beach definitely does deserve its ranking as one of the best beaches in the world. The two of us had the opportunity to go on a relaxing stroll along the beach but we were more than happy just to chill out and enjoy being here, snapping plenty of photos and shooting a few videos during our three hours on the beach.

Amy and Kieron on Whitehaven Beach

The waters were very refreshing but we probably should have worn our stinger suits – Kieron managed to get nibbled by something on his last swim and the friendly Fantasea crew doused the bite with vinegar to neutralize the sting.

Fortunately it wasn’t anything too serious but he definitely learned his lesson the hard way. If you’re swimming in the Whitsundays, wear your stinger suit kids!

Whitehaven Beach is also the perfect place to write a message in the sand, too!

So how much do you want to visit here?

The Video

We put together a short video of our time at Whitehaven Beach – take a look below.

How to get to Whitehaven Beach

Our friends at Fantasea Adventure Cruising offer daily return transfers to Whitehaven Beach either from the mainland (Shute Harbour) or Hamilton Island starting at $125. Guests traveling from the mainland can enjoy a free morning stop-off on Hamilton Island and lunch is provided on-board the boat.

Disclaimer: We received a discount from Fantasea Adventure Cruising. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own.

Vinegar?! Aren’t you suppose to pee on him? LOL.

Oh this looks like only a handle full of beaches I have visited before. It’s beaches like this that ruin all other beaches that are not like this for the rest of your life beach hopping around the world. Did that make sense?

Haha yes it does make going to your average beach a frustrating experience after you’ve been to something like Whitehaven. But if it’s hot enough to get in the water then who cares! 🙂

Whitehaven Beach is amazing in person! I did a sailing trip in the Whitsundays many years ago and I will never forget those beaches – spectacular!

Yep – it’s just as beautiful in person as it is in all of the postcards you see! We’re just a bit disappointed that we didn’t have the perfect blue sky for our photos but it’s still an experience we’ll never forget.

That sand does look super soft in the video. There’s nothing more relaxing than walking barefoot on a sandy beach and listening to the waves crashing over each other…heaven!

It really was… still can’t get over how it was that pure it squeaked! You described that so well and yes, it really is heaven (so long as the sun is out!)…
