Whitehaven Beach. It’s one of the top ten beaches in the world and we’ve never seen a place like it. It truly is just as stunning in real life as it is in the photographs you see.
7 kilometers of pristine white sand beside a sea of turquoise water, this little piece of paradise is accessible only via boat from Australia’s mainland as well as Hamilton Island.
We began our Whitehaven Beach day trip by taking a leisurely 40 minute cruise with Fantasea Adventure Cruising who provided a gourmet barbecue lunch on board their catamaran. Soon after lunch we boarded a smaller boat and our feet were on the pure silica sands of Whitehaven Beach.
Fantasea gave us a sun shelter and our choice of beach balls (footballs, cricket sets, etc) and off we went to find our own spot on the sand – not hard considering how isolated Whitehaven Beach is.
The cloud cover on the day means our photos don’t do it justice but Whitehaven Beach definitely does deserve its ranking as one of the best beaches in the world. The two of us had the opportunity to go on a relaxing stroll along the beach but we were more than happy just to chill out and enjoy being here, snapping plenty of photos and shooting a few videos during our three hours on the beach.
The waters were very refreshing but we probably should have worn our stinger suits – Kieron managed to get nibbled by something on his last swim and the friendly Fantasea crew doused the bite with vinegar to neutralize the sting.
Fortunately it wasn’t anything too serious but he definitely learned his lesson the hard way. If you’re swimming in the Whitsundays, wear your stinger suit kids!
Whitehaven Beach is also the perfect place to write a message in the sand, too!
So how much do you want to visit here?
