Where In The World Is Amy & Kieron?

Where In The World Is Amy & Kieron?

So, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve been very quiet lately. A little too quiet.

And we hate it!

But no need for despair because Don’t Ever Look Back isn’t going anywhere – the last few weeks have just been insanely busy for us on both a personal and professional front but we’re expecting to get back to a regular posting schedule shortly.

In the meantime, here’s a quick update of what’s been happening in our world.

A New Apartment

New Apartment

After getting my dream job in March and then making the decision to continue building my career once that contract expired, I’m still employed in the digital media industry eight-months later and am under contract until April 2013.

That eight months included around three hours per day commuting to and from work. I don’t even want to do the maths on how many hours I’ve wasted on the bus or train in that time!

And although we saved a tremendous amount of money living with parents, the time arrived where we needed our own space and I needed to reduce my commute before I literally went insane. This would allow both of us to have extra time to dedicate to other priorities and projects like this blog.

So the two of us have moved into a one-bedroom apartment in Melbourne’s Bayside, a short walk to the beach and public transport with a much more manageable one hour per day of commuting. If you want to see more of our apartment and what we’re up to, give us a follow on Instagram.

No Internet

Working With No Internet

Unfortunately our intentions of spending a lot more time online and working on the blog after moving have been foiled by some useless Australian companies (we won’t name them just yet although this may change soon!).

You’ve possibly heard the rants from other bloggers/travelers about the slow speeds of internet in the Land Down Under. Guess what? Getting a brand new internet connection in a well-developed country like Australia is an even bigger nightmare!

From what we’ve been told, it will be approximately eight weeks before we’re up and running.  No, that wasn’t a typo – our wait for decent internet is eight freaking weeks!

We’re currently tethering our 3G internet access from our phones so we have some form of connection but as you can imagine, this is far from the ideal situation and impossible for uploading photos/videos/etc.

Travel Plans

New Zealand Milford Sound

Although we’ve moved and tied ourselves down to Melbourne by signing a lease, we still have dreams to travel as much as we possibly can.

As you may have already read in our second birthday post, we’ll be heading to the South Island of New Zealand just after Christmas and plan to spend two weeks there before heading up to Wellington for 3 nights. We’ll be sharing more of our Kiwi plans soon – once we’ve found some internet and have actually done some research!

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg… we’ve got some other exciting things planned for 2013 which we’ll reveal in due time.

So thanks for sticking around for the ride and we’ll be back to normal sooner rather than later!
